Meet Dr. Karen Henson (Abilene, TX)

Karen Henson, O.D, received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston, College of Optometry in 1991. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Sam Houston State University in 1985.

With a strong interest in health and medicine, Dr. Henson worked as a medical technologist in a hospital while attending optometry school. This experience deepened her passion for healthcare and led her to a fulfilling career in optometry—an avenue through which she could improve lives by enhancing vision and educating patients on how their overall health affects their eyes.

Dr. Henson has practiced in a variety of settings over the years, including owning her own private practice. She finds great joy in helping people see better and values the lasting relationships she builds with her patients.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Henson and her husband share a love of antiques, particularly historic homes, classic cars, vintage firearms, and concrete art. They reside in a beautifully restored home with their three Schnauzers.
